Friday March 17th Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
As a child, I remember being given a book from Sunday School with this psalm in it. It had beautiful coloured pictures of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
Never has this psalm been so important to me as it has over the last few years. They have been a time of great shock and sadness in my family life.
Living in the Dales, we see evidence all around us of sheep and shepherds. So it is with our Lord. He will always look after us, never leave us. When, like young lambs, we stumble and fall, he will lift us up. He will comfort us when we don't know how to face tomorrow and will never forsake us.
Dear loving Lord Jesus, what a comfort it is to know that you are our Shepherd. You will take care of us, whatever today or tomorrow bring. When we are fearful for the future, help us to remember that a good shepherd never leaves his sheep. Thank you Lord!
