Sunday April 9th Matthew 26 : 36
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray".
Jesus was in his final hours on earth, spending time with his disciples. Even though he was in torment and anguish, knowing that he was fulfilling his Father's will, he still found time to reassure them. He underlined that, after his resurrection, he would always be with them and would lead the way.
The disciples still had to continue to trust him wholeheartedly. They were to listen to his voice and spend time with him. Just like us, they had to fully recognise that what he did on the cross was the ultimate sacrifice. And, in the light of that, surrender everything to him.
All to Jesus I surrender,
All to him I freely give.
I will ever love and trust him,
In his presence daily live.
I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my precious saviour,
I surrender all.
