Harrogate Road Methodist Church in Ripon seeks to be a community church for all ages. As its name suggests, it stands on the busy main road into the city. It is surrounded by housing estates and opposite a school.
Many different community groups use the premises — everything from blood donors to uniformed organisations — and the church family is alive with its own weekday activities — toddler group, Lunchbreak, and women's fellowship, to name but a few. We now alternate Women's Fellowship with Knit and Natter on a Tuesday afternoon. Lots of chatter whilst creating something useful, we recently refurbished the pew cushions.
We are part of Ripon Alive — Churches together in Ripon — and work closely with our friends at Allhallowgate Methodist Church, also in Ripon, sharing evening worship, youth and children's work and mission.
Sunday worship is at 10.30am. The first Sunday of the month is all age worship and often this is café style in the adjacent hall. On the third, fourth and fifth Sundays of the month, junior church meets alongside morning worship. The 6.30pm service alternates between Harrogate Road and Allhallowgate — the notice board in the grounds gives details each week of who is leading worship and where.
Because we are a church at the heart of a community, we are a church to whom many turn at those important moments in their lives and it is a huge privilege for us to be able to share God's love with people at those times.
It is also a delight to us to be able to welcome to worship many visitors who come to our city to visit family or for a short break. We would love to welcome you too.
