Ripon City of Sanctuary Group

City of Sanctuary is a charity having today over 100 local groups in the UK, all supporting asylum seekers and refugees. Since 2016 the Ripon City of Sanctuary Group has supported the collection of clothes and their delivery to Open Doors, Hull based in Princes Avenue Methodist Church and to Urban House, an Initial Accommodation Centre in Wakefield for asylum seekers. This notice is written in sadness to thank all those who have donated clothes and supported us. Our activities cannot continue because of the pandemic of the corona virus. Both the concern of contamination and the absence of a suitable collection centre force our closure. We have every intention of recommencing collections once the virus is under control. That could be a long time ahead and we are dismayed that in the immediate future our direct support of asylum seekers will be impossible. We thank all of you who have supported us.
